A Bronx Original

Fish fry,
done right.

Fine-dining technique, accessible food, and a whole lot of heart — rooted in the Bronx and brought to your table one plate at a time.

The Concept

Where the fryer meets fine dining.

Good Ol' Fish Fry started with a simple idea: the food we grew up on deserves real technique and real care. Crispy whiting and catfish, hush puppies and cornbread — made the way they're meant to be, then served with the polish of a professional kitchen.

“One plate at a time.” That's how we cook and how we've grown — from backyard fish fries to weddings, private dinners, and everything in between.

The Founders

Built by hand, together.

Good Ol' Fish Fry is built by two partners — Amber and Chef Tyrik Smith — in life and in the kitchen.

Amber met Ty while he was running events for seventy-five to a hundred people, mostly on his own. Watching him move through a packed kitchen with that much skill and calm, she knew she'd met her match. His culinary talent and his heart for the community lined up perfectly with hers, and together they set out to build something that truly feeds people.

Since the day they met, they've cooked for far more than paying customers — hosting holiday meals for people experiencing homelessness, because a good plate of food is one of the most basic ways to show someone they matter. That belief is the heart of everything they do, poured into every pop-up, private dinner, and prepared meal.

Chef Tyrik brings over fifteen years of professional kitchen experience — from casual restaurants into Michelin-recognized and celebrity chef-led kitchens, including work alongside Chef Eric Adjepong featured in The New York Times and the cookbook Ghana to the World. Amber brings the care, the community roots, and the conviction that good food nourishes both body and mind. Two people, one table, one plate at a time.

✎ Optional: want to add Amber's own food background, a signature dish, or the story behind the name? Send it over and I'll fold it in — otherwise this reads great as is.
The Mission

More than a fish fry.

Good Ol' Fish Fry is a community food project at heart. We started with backyard fries and pop-ups, grew into catering and private dinners, and we're building toward something bigger — a fuller seafood concept, and one day a place of our own in the Bronx. Every plate we serve is a step toward it.

Feed people well

Accessible, quality food for our neighbors and everyone who shows up at our table.

Honor the craft

Fine-dining technique applied to the food we grew up on — done right, every time.

Build toward the shop

Growing pop-ups and catering into a fuller seafood concept, one plate at a time.
